Best Fish Oil – Which is the best out there ?

Is there a “ best fish oil ” out there? If you’ve been listening to the latest health news at all for the last couple of years, you’ve probably heard of the benefits of taking fish supplement capsules and the omega-3 fatty acids they provide. Omega-3 fatty acids contain some pretty amazing antioxidant and antiaging properties. Omega-3 fatty acids can do everything from protecting against free radicals to easing depression and heart disease. Along with the excitement about omega-3 fatty acids, though, comes caution that fish oils also can have their risks.

Unfortunately, fish absorb the toxins they come in contact with, and the fats that they contain can lock those toxins in tight. And what that means is that when you take these fish oils, you can also absorb the toxins, which may in fact counter or at least minimize any benefits you would actually get from the fish oil itself.

That is, of course, if you take a standard fish oil supplement. There’s a way to get around this, though, and that’s by taking the best fish oil. What does that mean? The best fish oil is also going to be the most refined. What are the benefits to this?

More concentrated dosage and no contamination

Standard ones are okay, but choosing a refined product is better, because it concentrates the dosage and makes sure there are no contaminants in it. This is especially beneficial, because among the contaminants in fish is mercury, which can be poisonous.

Unfortunately, when oil is normally extracted from fish, the toxins in the fatty acids come with the oils that are so beneficial. However, when fish oil is “ultra refined,” it’s chilled so that saturated fats and particles can be removed from it. It’s further filtered to take care of mercury and other contaminants that may be in it.

More expensive? Not really

Now, it’s true that this ultra refined supplement is more expensive than the standard one, but rest assured that you get what you pay for. You need to take fish oils that have been highly refined because you don’t want to get a lot of contaminants with your fish oil, in addition to the benefits you would normally receive from it. Instead, the best fish oil has been refined so that it doesn’t have PCBs, carcinogens, dioxins, and mercury in it.

More potent, definitely.

And even though this ultra refined fish oil is more expensive, it’s also more potent so that you have to take less. That means that per dose, you won’t pay much more than you would for run-of-the-mill fish oil, and you may even pay less per actual dose — and this with the added peace of mind that comes from knowing you won’t be ingesting toxins along with your fish oil. What could be better? So take the best fish oil, and leave the run-of-the-mill fish oils where they belong, on the shelf.
